spoke up at "Speak-Up 2004"
February 7th - 10:30am-12 noon, Norfield Parish
Hall - began and ended right on time!
Moderator
President Kathy Failla keeps the questions and answers
flowing! Here, First Selectman Woody Bliss has
definitive information about a question, but no one was shy
about chipping in on other "hot" questions...such as Army
Corps easements Town Meeting, or the plight of rail commuters,
or what can the school community do to avert a $270,000 cut in
the proposed school budget FY2005 (from 5.83% increase to 5%
increase).

For example, Selectman Glenn Major
indicated that the Board of Education did not supply enough
justification of need...to warrent more than 5% increase
(Selectman Richard Millar's suggestion); State Senator
John McKinney discusses dire and crowded situation on Metro
North with rail commuter; Board of Finance Chair. Len
Peterson says the Board of Education may be asking for more than
we can afford this year; Planning and Zoning Chair. Don
Saltzman implores the assembled residents to attend public
meetings..."We don't like playing to an empty room" he
jested. More questions HERE.
