ANNUAL MEETING
After the business meeting, wherein a new budget was adopted and
discussion of program for 2015-2016 took place...the LWV of Weston
Annual Meeting adjourned for annual luncheon and the 16th
Betty Hill Forum.
David Burstein: "Beyond 2016: Next Generation American
Politics" presentation
and Q&A for the 16th annual Betty Hill Forum. Watch
the video here:
"PICTURE STORY"
First was the business
meeting, which finished five minutes early and was attended by a
quorum of members of the LWV of Weston. Lively meeting, and lots of
great ideas for further work in the community!
BEFORE
LUNCHEON...
WHILE OTHERS SOCIALIZED,
WE SET UP FOR MEMORIALIZING THE SPEECH & Q&A
The Red Barn was just the right place, and we were advised of the
best location for the camera to avoid "back lighting" effect.
FACES FROM MANY SECTORS
OF WESTON
"Getting to know you" or
rather, getting to talk to you again, in a different context,
before excellent lunch!
RELAXATION AT
LEAGUE? HEY - WE'VE GOT TO PATENT THIS!!!
A very friendly community
is Weston. Oh, and by the way, would anyone like to "work
the polls" at the Referendum#2 tomorrow (9-5)? NOTE:
Results were: 688 to 313 "yes" on School Budget the
next day. That was 1001 Westonites voting in the
Referendum!
WE HAD OUR CHEESE CAKE FAST AND TOOK COFFEE BACK TO THE CAMERA TO
RECORD THE BETTY HILL FORUM SPEAKER DAVID BURSTEIN...
GREAT SPEAKER!
Introduced as a Weston High School graduate...and then much, much
more, as a spokesman for his "generation"...
THOSE IN GOVERNMENT WERE
ALL EARS...
Mr. Burstein, whose credentials to speak on the subject of his
topic and for his generation are amazing. These comments had
special meaning for Weston...
THOSE WHO ARE
PROFESSIONALLY INTERESTED IN HIS TOPIC AND GENERATION ASKED
QUESTIONS
Of course, whenever the
League conducts a meeting no one is ever at a loss to ask
questions and delve deeper! How did he do? Great!!!
THINKING PERSON'S
LUNCHEON!
New members seemed to enjoy themselves, and brought excellent
depth of experience and wisdom into Q&A; others were
eager to challenge. Some just thought deeply.
A SHADOW OVER YOUR FUTURE
One point Mr. Burstein made that resonated for the webmaster
was that his generation came of age around the time of September
11, 2001...and we couldn't help but recall thinking how different
the world would be for the next generation afterward.
