PICTURE STORY:  First there was the beautiful day, not only for golf, but for the Annual Meeting devoted to serious business.

BUSINESS FIRST (UPPER RIGHT)
It helps to have a great setting.   League got started a bit late, but finished up right on schedule!  Then came social re-connecting prior to lunch.

THE BUSINESS MEETING HAD TAKEN ABOUT THE TIME REQUIRED TO GO FROM THE FIRST TEE TO THE GREEN ABOVE...
League and its guests had a lovely luncheon.  We don't exactly recall the course layout, but those teeing off when the Annual Meeting was underway might then have been on the green above.

A MOMENT OF RESPECT
Convener Helen de Keijzer, at the microphone, reminds us of members who have been lost during the past year.  Just our thought:  All three members, Pat, Terry and Bob, would have been very pleased with our speaker this year!

"BEHIND THE HEADLINES:  GLOBAL HOT SPOTS IN HISTORICAL CONTEXT"
was the topic of an address and Q&A session with distinguished historian, author, and lecturer Mark Albertson.  Watch the video here:

FEATURED SPEAKER MARK ALBERTSON ADDRESSES THE ASSEMBLED MULTITUDE:

KOREAN PENINSULA BACKGROUND
Mr. Albertson gave a brilliant address for perhaps 30 minutes, without interruption.  Subject matter ranging from Korea to Russia to the Middle East to Europe, and elsewhere.

AWESOME!
Doesn't history repeat itself!  After listening to Mr. Albertson's address, the audience had questions.  We got the real story of the Korean conflict.  And why WWI never truly ended until the end of WWII.

TECHNOLOGY IS CHANGING THE NATURE OF WARFARE!
While the CT Legislature debates "aircraft carrier bills" that carry a heavy load, League listens to Mr. Albertson answer questions about the evolving needs of the Army, Navy and Air Force, and how technology is playing an increasingly important role.
Drones being one of many such examples.

Not only did we learn a lot, we had a great time, too!!!  Thank you A.V.C.C. for a wonderful setting for the events.
