LWV of Weston Debates online - go to the debate link below which takes you to them!

ALL THREE (3) DEBATES - IN "SETS" OF THREE AS ABOVE - AVAILABLE AT WESTON LIBRARY

Did you watch debates live?  It was standing room only at the Weston Library Community Room.  Caught every nuance?   Click on debate "card" above for the one you'd like to see some old-fashioned still pictures from!

Take out a set of DVDs from the Weston Library (find the "LWV 'cart'") and set your own schedule!!!

Or do you prefer to watch debates on TV, like football games?  Town Channel 79 will have them running on Town TV until Election Day November 3rd!  Schedule to be announced.

BUT...here in 2015 there are other ways to view debates from the Weston LWV!  Are you on a long train ride to New York City?  Watch Selectmen and Board of Finance  when there aren't delays, and if there is a delay, watch the Board of Education - which ran over its hour schedule but the League let it run because it was the last debate and questions were so good!

ALL DEBATES NOW UPLOADED AND AVAILABLE HERE: http://www.lwvweston.org  .

Weston LWV tried something new this year - get all the contested seats debated at once and early so that people would be able to either sit through them, read about them later, or alternatively, watch replays on Town TV Channel 79, take out DVDs from the Library or watch from their computers or on hand held devices or smartphones.  The crowd appeared right on time!!!

Starting off first was the debate-within-a-debate for First Selectman.  They managed to answer five questions in 15 minutes...setting up the full Board of Selectmen debate to follow.

In answering the first question at the First Selectman's debate above...below, the candidates tackle some big issues.

Gayle Weinstein

Nina Daniel

Dennis Tracey

Chris Spaulding

A full hour of all four candidates together - nine more questions with closing statements!   Above, the last question in Board of Selectmen's debate.

The two-candidate debate for the two-year seat...

Bob Ferguson

Sarah Schlechter

And did we mention already that next up was the debate for two-year seat on the Board of Finance...and almost nobody had left!

Hal Shupack and Woody Bliss sitings!!!  Previous First Selectmen still interested in League debates.
OMG the questions came fast and furious from the full house!!!  In one-half hour the candidates (shown in previous line above) answered nine (9) questions!!!

USE YOUR IMAGINATION...PICTURE WRAPS FROM PETER'S AND CIDER AND FOR A REALLY SPECIAL FEW - COFFEE AT 12 NOON!

And then it was League Lunch (i.e. "Play With Your Food" style) for all the stoic audience and candidates who stayed!  The one thing League almost missed in the whole day so far was making coffee available early...but no problem!  After lunch we offered coffee to those who still needed the caffeine (and the coffee was still HOT coffee, a miracle!!!).

MORE PIX BELOW!  This was a wonderful debate, and gave everyone the sense that the Board of Education really does work as a team.
There were a dozen questions asked and answered in a slightly extended (by 10 minutes) debate for control of that board.   Close ups below in order of seating...
